About Us

Meet Brad (B. Rad) Holland

My first trip to Burning Man was in 1997. I knew nothing about it. When I got there I realized I was on the leading edge of an art and cultural revolution, at least for my own mind. By my second year I started organizing and building theme camps with local friends. We brought art, we brought bikes decorated with art, and then we brought the bikes, stories, laughter and culture back from Black Rock City to share with the 'default world'.

I helped organize some small Burning Man inspired regional events, the first one being Freezing Man in 2000, which was produced for the next five years. I worked with the Apogaea board of directors in it's early days (this is Colorado's official regional Burn), as well as the Apogaea art grant committee that was formed in 2004. That same year I became a Burning Man regional contact for Boulder Colorado.

In 2007 I helped create a maker space and community center in Boulder call BurnWorks. BurnWorks closed in 2014 but has left a lasting impression on myself and many others.

I'm still inspired by and deeply involved in art projects and community building in Boulder, Burning Man, and beyond.

Meet Caroline "Shine" Kert (Ranger Monkey Shoes)

My life was changed by Burning Man, and it allowed me to fall back in love with humanity. I have been burning since 2006, and am loving cultivating our local burner community as a Regional Contact for Boulder. My mission is to foster collaboration between burner art organizations and the broader community, as well as educate the public about who we are, what we do, and how we do it. I've been working with Apogaea in a leadership role since 2007 and currently as an event co-lead for the Rangers. I'm love Rangering and help with several special teams, both on playa and in Colorado. I'm happiest when I can help create container that allows others to really shine, and I feel that knowing all you lovely freaks makes me a much happier and well-rounded person!
